Question: What are CBD and THC?
Phytocannabinoids, including cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), come
from the cannabis sativa subspecies. CBD and THC are structural isomers.
The cannabis plant contains over 400 chemical entities, including more than 80
phytocannabinoid compounds. The two major types of receptors in the ECS are CB1 and CB2.
CB1 receptors are found in the peripheral and central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), lungs, liver, and kidneys. They are involved in homeostasis, memory, learning, blood pressure regulation, and many other functions.
CB2 receptors are mostly found in immune cells (spleen, tonsils, and thymus). They are involved
in immune and inflammatory response, among other THC is responsible for psychoactive effects due to activation of CB1 receptors in the brain, and has been shown to reduce perception of pain, which has been linked with a decreased need for opioids.
Also important to note is the presence of delta-8-THC, which is more heat stable, less psychoactive, and present only in trace amounts.
Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) is a neutral CB1 antagonist at low doses but can be
9 psychoactive at high doses, (although it is rarely found in such doses).
CBD is believed to reduce the inflammatory response, and at higher doses may counter some of the psychoactive effects of THC.
CBD has very low toxicity, has a half life of 9 hours, and is excreted in the urine.
Can CBD make me fail a drug test?
Our CBD products are sold with much lower levels of THC (compared to marijuana), so CBD consumers won't have trouble passing a drug test. If you are using extremely high levels of CBD or hemp oil (over 2,000 mg per day), it's possible, though unlikely, that this could produce a "false positive" result on a drug test. Even then, a follow-up test can provide more conclusive results. We do suggest that you print the COA from your product as it provides the exact level of cannabinoids you are investing and bring it with you to the testing facility.
Question: What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?
Answer: Endocannabinoids (natural cannabis -like molecules) were discovered by scientists in the 1990’s. Scientists realized that cannabis worked in part by mimicking our own endocannabinoids.
The main function of the ECS is to maintain homeostasis in the body, regardless of changes in environment. Studies revealed that the ECS evolved over 500 million years ago and it is present in all vertebrates (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, etc).
Endocannabinoid receptors are located all over the body: skin, immune cells, bone, fat tissue, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, heart, blood vessels, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract.
The ECS is involved in many processes such as pain, memory, mood, appetite, stress, sleep,
metabolism, immune function, and reproductive function.
